General
* Saturday saw Senior Grade enter its 21st season of competition against Macquarie Uni - second only to Nor-West Jets (25 seasons).
* And Reserve Grade entered its 22nd season of competition against Macquarie Uni - equal first (currently at least) with Manly-Warringah (until we play them this season).
* The fiasco on Saturday which saw Under 18s first receiving a forfeit only then to be told that the game was then being rescheduled, not only means that the entire team, parents and supporters have to give up a free weekend and re-incur the petrol, parking and toll costs of travelling to Macquarie Uni to play. It also continues a sorry pattern of the lads not getting a game in recent home and away games, as follows:
Round 14 2009: Bye
Round 15 2009: Forfeit by opposing club
Round 16 2009: Forfeit by opposing club
Round 17 2009: Forfeit by opposing club
Round 18 2009: Lost to Southern Sharks
Round 1 2010: Bye (created by last-minute withdrawal of side from competition)
Round 2 2010: Forfeit by opposing club
Round 3 2010: Defeated East Coast Eagles
Round 4 2010: Forfeit by opposing club (then changed to rescheduled match).
In summary: 2 byes, 4 forfeits, only 2 actual games and then a rescheduled game (there were of course two finals played after Round 18, 2009). An unlucky run for the boys and hopefully they can start getting some regular football soon.
Players
* Congratulations to the
following former players who returned to the club in this round:
Quinton Beaven (last played 2005)
* Congratulations
to Stuart Ayres on playing his 150th game in Reserves for Penrith - only the third player to do so after Alan Luke (166) and Mark Steunenberg (now Club Umpire extraordinaire) (158).
Teams
* Senior
Grade's loss against Macquarie Uni equalled its longest losing sequence against that
club (10) - the last win against that club was by 4 points on 20th May, 2006.
* After losing 10 on the trot against Macquarie Uni (16th July, 2005 - 18th April 2009), Reserve Grade has now won its second game in a row against that club.
Update
* Under 18 Grade's win against the East Coast Eagles last weekend was in the 250th scheduled game for Penrith in Under 18/Under 20 Grade, resulting in:
109 wins, 125 losses, 1 draw and 15 abandoned games.
