The Penrith Rams have kicked a number of goals over the summer months with some important developments taking place which have bolstered the club’s off-field position. First and foremost amongst these changes saw the announcement of three new sponsorship deals, highlighted by the club signing a major sponsorship with Australia’s fastest growing network of supermarkets, IGA, with their newly launched premium private label range, IGA Signature, becoming the club’s major corporate and naming rights sponsor which is reflected in their all new playing strip. Following on from this announcement saw the club link up with international conglomerate, Parmalat, with their “Ice Break” Ice Coffee brand becoming a jumper sponsor, and in a further fillip, the Rams are now pleased to announce a major deal with Goulburn Valley, Australia’s leading packaged fruit brand.
Along with the club’s current relationship with the Red Cow Inn, Penrith are now in their strongest financial position in the club’s history, with a number of new people also coming on board in management roles with lengthy experience in junior football adding to the renewed feeling of enthusiasm around the club. Many players have also been proactive in securing their own sponsorship under the new "Player Sponsorship Scheme". For a cost just slightly more than their registation costs, businesses or individuals can give financial assistance to players as the scheme covers registration costs for the player, along with advertising, web recognition, electronic home match day advertising and invitations to club functions. Contact the club for further details.
Pre-season training will officially commence on Saturday, 6 February at Weir Reserve from 9.30am under new senior coach, Kevin Tate, with an informal group having been in operation since before Christmas under reserve grade coach Mark Jackson.
The club are optimistic about their on-field prospects for the new season, with up to ten players from last year’s successful U/18’s side graduating to senior football.
The prospects for the U/18’s in 2010 also look promising under coach Craig Sharp, with last year’s joint Best & Fairests in Matthew Payne and Harley Stibbard still be eligible to play underage football, and they will be joined by a number of other promising U/16’s who played some football for the Rams last season, including Pioneers rep Jack Ponton.
Penrith are set to kick off their Sydney AFL campaign on April 10 at home to the "educational" clubs, Sydney Uni (Firsts), Uni NSW/ES (Reserves) and Riverview College (Under 18's). The club are interested in hearing from anyone who would like to play AFL in 2010. For more information please contact Greg Corless on 0412 579 061, or go to www.penrithrams.com.au
