Penrith Rams finished of an incredible year with players from all three teams being judged Sydney's best at the gala Sydney AFL night at Doltone House on Monday. Jason Ware won the Armstrong Medal in Div 4 and ahortly after, Lachlan Smith took the honours in the McFarlane Medal. In a tense finish in the Under 18's Hart Medal, Matthew Payne was the worthy winner after his 2nd placing last year. Ben McGovern was aso given the award for being the leading Under 18's goalkicker for 2010.
Lachlan Smith amassed an amazing 27 votes to easily win the McFarlane Medal from Moorebank Sports Daniel Gojanovich on 13 votes. Mark Woodford and Dave Bradley both finished equal fourth on 11 votes whilst Max McNamara (6 votes) and Tayt Corless (5 votes) finished in the leagues top 30.
Jason Ware made it a double for the Rams in taking out the Armstrong Medal with 23 votes from Auburn's Salem Kassem. Mark Jackson amd Jon Barry both finished with 6 votes with Seltene Yohannes getting 5 votes to all finish in the top 30.
It was a nervous wait for the announcement of the Under 18's Hart Medal. Last year Matthew Payne had lost by just a single vote despite missing five games due to forfeiting opponents. After polling just two votes after round eight due to similar circumstances, all looked lost for Payne but he rocketed home with five votes in the final two matches to deservedly win the Hart with 19 votes from Southern Powers Maddis Bishop (17 votes). Adam Sharp finished fourth with 14 votes, Jack Ponton fifth with 13 votes. Liam Murphy gained 5 votes for 15th spot whilst Jackson Swarbrick and leading goalkicker Ben McGovern rounded out the top 30.
