A number of trial matches are currently being organised for all teams during March. The first match is against Queanbeyan Tigers on Saturday March 3 at Dairy Farmers Stadium, Queanbeyan. Two squads (seniors and Under 18's) will be playing and nominations are sought to play.
It is expected that each squad will consist of around 25 players. Interested players are asked to nominate their availabilty.
Queanbeyan Tigers are are very strong club who play in the NEAFL competition. On Sat March 3, The Under 18's will play the opening game at 12:00 PM at Dairy Farmers Stadium. Seniors will play the following game against the Tigers reserve grade side at 2 PM whilst a Geelong based team will play Queanbeyan's NEAFL side at 4 PM. The NEAFL competition consists of teams from Canberra, Sydney Swans reserves, GWS Giants reserves, Brisbane Lions reserves, Gold Coast Suns reserves as well as Sydney Clubs East Coast and Sydney Uni.
Nominations are now called ASAP for players to make this trip. Options being considered are:
- Travel by bus (Would leave Penrith around 7 AM Sat June 3 and Return Sunday PM June 4. Cost would be around $40 each
- Car Pooling - Expect to throw in some dollars for petrol
- Accommodation - Those wishing to stay overnight would expect to pay around $50 for hotel share accommodation. A Sunday morning recovery session in Canberra would be organised
- Players and supporters could also just make it a "day trip" using their own transport.
Support staff and supporters are also most welcome and encouraged to attend. As it is under a month before this game, nominations are requested ASAP.
Information regarding further trial matches (local games) will be posted on the website once confirmed. At present, games on March 10/11, March 17 and possibly March 24 are under negotiation. All divisions will be playing trail games leading into the 2012 competition which begins on March 31.
