On a day in which torrential rain spoiled what would have been an entertaining and open contest, UNSW met Pennant Hills at the Village Green.
The game should have been decided around the contest and it was expected that the team who got hands on the footy first and won the most hard ball would win the game. It proved to be a different story, however, as it proved that the team that would take their scoring opportunities would be the victors.
UNSW dominated the game, having the majority of possession, winning most hard ball and generally being first to the footy all day. Pennant Hills on the other hand looked very dangerous on the rebound, especially when the sun came out for those brief moments and the ball started to dry out. Unfortunately, despite dominating the contest UNSW U18 lost the match 4. 12. 36 to Pennant Hills 7. 6. 48 due primarily to not making the most of opportunities.
It was an incredibly positive performance that the team should be proud of. Being able to mix it with one of the traditional power brokers of premier division football is a significant statement and one that really bodes well for the rest of the season.
