Unduly Rough Play
A history of the Port Melbourne Football Club Volume 2 - 1918-1944
by Terry Keenan
Terry Keenan continues the history of the Port Melbourne Football Club from where it was left in Kicking Into the Wind.
Unduly Rough Play traces the fortunes of the PMFC through the period that separated the two world wars during the first half of the 20th Century. It observes the progress of the team through the good times and the bad, celebrating the premierships and confronting the lowlights, including one 'wooden spoon'.
This part of the story is set against a background of distressed social conditions that impacted so severely on the lives of the Port Melbourne community, the vexed relationship between the Victorian Football Association (VFA) and some of the municipal councils that provided grounds for VFA clubs and the often poisonous relationship between the VFA and the Victorian Football League (VFL).
Copies of Unduly Rough Play are available for sale from the Club for $25.00 each.
