League Women - Thursday – Eagles v Uni Rebels

The Eagles staged the biggest comeback of the season with a hard fought 59-57 win over the Uni Rebels. Michelle Friel was the hero of the game as she nailed four straight free throws to win the game at the end. She also scored the last nine points of the game for the Eagles as they improved their record to 4-0. The Birds jumped out to a 12-4 first quarter lead, but that disappeared in a hurry as the Rebels charged back in the second quarter with a 28-9 run led by by Ambah Kowcun who hit 15 of her game high 20 in the quarter. The Eagles pulled one point back by the end of the third quarter, but still trailed 47-35 with a quarter to play. The last quarter was a wild scramble as the Birds clawed their way back into the game to eventually win it from the charity stripe thanks to Friel. Friel finished with 19, Faye Armstrong 16 and Trish Graham 13 while veteran Chantelle Lee added 15 in support of Kowcun.

League Men - Tracy Village Jets v Uni Rebels

The Uni Rebels did a number on the Tracy Village Jets, taking out their match 92-74 behind the accurate shooting of big man Tim Morris who knocked down a game high 38 points. Morris made life a misery for the Jets as he scored from inside the key to outside the arc or from the charity stripe. Travis Ellis from the Jets shouldered most of the scoring output, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Bombers in contention after half time. The Rebels averaged 23 points a quarter as they secured their fourth straight win in this seasons competition. They remain undefeated. Backing up Morris was Bradley Jachmann with 14, Lionel Oger 13 and Lance Schmidt on 10. For the Jets it was Ellis with 28, Jayden Adams 15, Jett Sukcharoen 11 and Darrin Weetra 10.
