League Men - Uni Rebels v Lightning

The Uni Rebels snuck past the Lightning 71-65 in a close matchup between the top two sides. The Rebels are now the only undefeated team in the men’s competition after handing the Lightning their only loss so far. Tim Morris was again at the forefront of scoring for the Rebels, leading the way with 25. Brad Jachmann added 16 and Aaron Simpson 10. This game was close all the way with the Lightning actually leading at half time 44-42. After the break though the Rebels challenged with a 15-9 run to take a 57-53 lead into the last quarter. Shaquille Hohipa-Wilson from Lightning had a great first half scoring 18 of his team high 20, but was held to just 2pts in the second half and that took most of the wind out of Lightning’s attack. Morris and Jachmann for the Rebels on the other hand just kept firing away, helping the Rebels to hang on for the win. Harry Fuge was the other double figure scorer for the Lightning with 10.

League Women - Uni Rebels v Lightning

Lightning won their second consecutive game with a minor upset of the Uni Rebels 55-34. The ‘Big’s’ for the Lightning did most of the damage inside the keyway with Kira Pendlebury leading the way with a game high 15. Emma Carbone is settling back into the Lightning transition game and she lent backup to Pendlebury with her best showing of the season with 13 points. Lightning didn’t allow the Rebels any chance as they posted a 15-2 first quarter lead that ballooned out to 29-8 at half time…game over. Nobody reached double figures for the Rebels, but Chantelle Lee, Kalisha Rioli & Ambah Kowcun all chipped in with 7.
