Uni Rebels Women's Round 15 and Men's Round 16 Results

 

 

 

 

 

Uni Rebels Women secures it final four spot with this win over Lightning. The young and talented Rebels side took control of the game early on with a 15 to 12. Then did the most damage in the second quarter by out scoring Lightning 20 to 9 ending the first half with a 35 to 21 advantage. Lightning caught up a bit in the third quarter closing the gap 49 to 38. But the Lady Rebels regain control of the game in the 4th quarter and finished out the game 62 to 50. The Rebels attack was led by sisters Ambah(16) and Annelise(15) Kowcun and supported by Edith Boundry(14) and Chantelle Lee(10). Playing coach Jaylene Boundry did not play because of a back injury.

The Uni Rebels Men's League Team took home Minor Premiership honors after defeating a full strenght Palmerston side. Even with 3 major players still not at full capacity because of injuries (Tyler, Marcus and Jake), Rebels kept the scoreline close at the end of the first quarter 16 to 21 behind 5 points to Palmerston. In the second quarter Rebels kept chipping away with the deficit and ended up just 1 point behind Palmerston 32 to 33. In the third quarter Rebels managed to get in front 54 to 48 and never relenquished the led. Rebels had full control of the game in the fourth quarter and out scored Palmerston 18 to 17 and ended the game 72 to 65 securing the Minor Premiership and a mental edge over Palmerston who they will face inthe Major Semi Final in 2 weeks time on November 20, 2015. Marcus Ch'ng led all scorers for Rebels with 24pts and supported by Tyler Jefferson(16), Tom Uppena(11) and David Ronchi(10). We wish Tyelr, Marcus and Jake all the best when they represent the DBA in the Sultans Cup Tournamant in Johor, Malaysia next week.
