League Women - Ansett v Uni Rebels

The second ‘cliff-hanger’ was played out between the Blues and Rebels with the Blues of Ansett holding on for a 43-39 win. The Rebels trailed 36-29 at the start of the last quarter and two quick baskets (40-29) by the Blues looked a sure bet to put the game in the win column, but a huge momentum shift to the Rebels changed everything. With 7:58 remaining the Rebels took charge and scrambled towards the end game through Jayelene Boundry (8.2ppg) and Justine Schmidt (7.7ppg) who led a defense that held the Blues scoreless for almost the rest of the game. The Rebels got within one point at 40-39 with just 54 seconds remaining before Tamara Sheppard (19.1ppg) hit a free throw and then Clancy Dorman nailed a two pointer for the win with just 24 seconds left. Tamiyah Perkins (13.7ppg) led the Blues with 11 and Sheppard finished with 10. Boundry led the Rebels with 11 and Schmidt finished with 10

League Men - Ansett v Uni Rebels

Ansett hit a real purple patch in the third quarter to power away from the Uni Rebels for a decisive 95-78 win that keeps their slim playoff hopes alive. The game was shaping up as a real close encounter with the League’s leading scorer JB Pillard III from the Rebels leading the way with 26pts by half time. The Blues had four players putting up big numbers with Max Davis at the front. By half time the score was 46-39 favouring the Rebels. After the half, however, the Blues erupted for 30 points to just 5 for the Rebels to take a match winning 69-51 lead into the last quarter of play. Brad Davis (24.2ppg) hit a team high 29 for the Blues with Max Davies (15.5ppg) chipping in with 17, Joseph Stewart 16 & Matthew Haniford 12. Pillard (38.2ppg) hit a game high 47 with Jake Kirby on 15.
