Uni Rebels' Chad Bewley Captains Darwin Team To Victory

It was a close game in the Darwin Basketball League All-Star Game City of Origin that needed extra time to decide a winner. Uni Rebels new import Chad Bewley had the honors to lead the Darwin Team as captain in a 57 to 55 win over the Palmerston Team.

"Darwin needed two minutes of impromptu overtime to win last nights's City of Origin All-Star clash 57-55 over Palmerston at Darwin Basketball Stadium. The contest was the curtain-raiser to the NBL exhibition game and pitted clubmate against clubmate and saw the usual opponents become teammates.

Palmerston's American guard Alex Fertig(16 pts) hit two free throws - capping a 14-point seconf halfto lock the match at 51-51 in regulation, after a Chad Bewley(10pts) triple gave Darwin a 51-49 lead. Jarrod Sheppard's(6) ortime-opening trey was followed by Palmerston sharp shooter Tom Godwin's(13) three-point play to again leave the match tied.

There was afurthur stalemate at 55-55 before a Bewley free thow gave Darwin the lead for good, with a sindle Joe Johnson(11) free throw rounding out the win. Jerron Jamerson(18) set up Darwins early with three first quarter dunks. Craig Martin kept Palmerston afloat with 12 of his 15 points in the first half. Darwin won the Jeff Larson Perpetual Trophy, in honor of the ex player-turned-statistician."
