League Women - Uni Rebels v Lightning

The Uni Rebels used a last quarter surge to lift themselves off the bottom of the ladder with a close fought 48-40 win against the Lightning. The win relegated the Lightning to the bottom. The game swung back and forth for most of the game with the Rebels holding a 26-23 lead at half time and the Lightning taking over just before the start of the last quarter 34-32. Danielle Ponter (14.3ppg) from the Rebels started their last quarter 16-6 run to victory with a pair of buckets. These were followed by a trey from Tiayana Sing (8.3ppg) to give the Rebels a 39-34 lead after just a minute and a half. They then held on for the win…only their second of the season. Ponter led all scorers with a season high 26 while Dominique Carbone (10.7ppg) hit 14 for the Lightning.

League Men - Uni Rebels v Lightning

Another high scoring game on Thursday night produced a 108-73 win for the league leading Uni Rebels over the Lightning. Spencer Coleman (27.3ppg) led a battery of six players in double figures for the Rebels with Coleman getting a game and season high 38. The Lightning took the lead in the first quarter 27-21 before the Rebels picked up the pace in the second quarter during a 33-20 run that gave them a 54-47 lead at half time. The second half was mostly Rebels as they outscored their opponents 54-26 to win going away. Adding points to the Rebel column were Tim Morris (20), Marcus Ch’ng (16), Jarrod Sheppard (12) and Jake Kirby & Mitch Garton 11 each. Austin Kisselev (31ppg) led the Lightning with 30, Dylan De Santis 18 (6 treys) and Jesse Bell 15.
