League Women - Uni Rebels v Palmerston Power
The Palmerston Power overpowered the Uni Rebels to win easily 74-48 taking a firm grip on fourth place on the ladder. Louise Turner led the Power with a season high 22 getting help from Brittany Ward on 20 (including 4 treys) and Shauna Bastick with 14. The Power started out gangbusters with a 22-6 first quarter, but to the credit of the Rebels they charged right back in the second quarter with a 20-11 run to close the gap at half time 33-26. But, after the break another lapse by the Rebels led to another big run by the Power (22-9) to put them out of reach and on their way to the win. Danielle Ponter led the Rebels with 15 and Toya Norris hit 13.
League Men - Palmerston Power v Uni Rebels
The Uni Rebels tightened their grip on first place with an 87-58 win over the upset minded Palmerston Power. The Power had carved out a narrow 35-33 first half lead, but frittered it away in the third quarter when the Rebels took off on a 25-14 run to take a 58-49 lead with only the fourth quarter left to play. The quarter proved disastrous for the Power as they were held to a single digit while the Rebels charged off on a 29-9 run to settle the outcome. Tim Morris and Spencer Coleman led the charge with 31 and 29 respectively with Glenn Scott adding 10. Garrett Hall hit a team high 22 for the Power with Willie Shackleford on 12.
