League Women - Ansett v Uni Rebels

Ansett blew past the Uni Rebels 85-43 to take a firm grip on the double chance position of second place on the ladder. The Rebels didn’t get the chance to celebrate Chantelle Lee’s 600th League game with a win, but celebrated nonetheless. Dedication has been evident over Lee’s career of 20+ years since hitting the court in 1995. However, the Blues wrecked the party with a solid team game led by Tal Yakov (26.8ppg) and Tamiyah Perkins (10ppg) who combined for 47 points. The Blues had run up a half time score of 47-20 so the writing was on the wall. Yakov finished with a game high 25, Perkins 22, Ruta Valiulyte added 12 and Amelia Short 10. Danielle Ponter (13.6ppg) led the Rebels with 11 and Shavayah Lee (10.5ppg) had 10. For the record Chantelle has averaged 4.4ppg during her career.

League Men - Ansett v Uni Rebels

The Uni Rebels held off a late challenge from Ansett to better their rivals 97-90. The win puts a bit of a dent in Ansett’s efforts to make it into the final four. With only 4 games remaining in the regular season they have their work cut out for them and will probably have to rely on results from other games to make it. The Rebels steadily built up a comfortable buffer behind Spencer Coleman (28.6ppg) and Tim Morris (28.2ppg) and by three quarter time the Rebels were up 79-63. The Blues put in a late challenge to win the fourth quarter 27-18, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Rebels lead. Coleman top scored for the Rebels with 37, Morris had 25 and Marcus Ch’ng & Jake Kirby hit 14 each. Jerron Jamerson (37.2ppg) from the Blues led all scorers with 38, Mitch O’Donoghue had 22 and Robert Skinner 14.
