Round 1 Results For Uni Rebels League Men
Not the season opener that Uni Rebels League Men wanted but the players did not put their heads down and where not afraid to compete all game long after a 36 to 102 loss to Essington. The side is in a rebuilding phase with the departure of a host of players from last year, the League Mens are still waiting for a few players to reinforce the team and be competetive. On a brighter note Uni Rebels was happy with the debut performance of it's two junior players in their first League Men's game. U18's Shane Morton who played F/C and U16's Mixon Laurel who played G showed a lot of potential and we are looking forward to their improvement playing in the League side. And another milestone moment was having all three Laurel Rebels players on the floor at the same time. Playing coach Malix Laurel and his two sons Malex Laurel and Mixon Laurel all took the floor at the same time to represent Uni Rebels. This was a proud moment for Uni Rebels committee member Mary Anne Bernabe-Laurel to see her three boys play a League game together for Rebels Basketball Club. Captain Jake Kirby led the scoring for Rebels with 14 pts, and supported by veteran sharp shooter Larry Hamill with 8 pts and Julian Punsalang with 6 pts.
