League Women - Eagles Vs Uni Rebels

A young Uni Rebels Women League side secured a 55 to 35 win against Eagles in their first game this season. Comprised mostly of junior players and Chantelle Lee, The young squad started slow and finished the first quarter 7 to 9 down 2 pts to Eagles. A change of defensive strategy by head coach Brendan Lee ordering the girls to press up swung the momentum Rebels way and finished the first half with 31 to 19. Uni Rebels did not let down the press and with the help of new recruit Ieasha Friel leading the charge with 19pts Rebels finished with a 41 to 26 lead to end the third quarter. With the support of Kayllah Motlop(12pts), Tiayana Sing(10pts) and Shavayah Lee(8pts) Rebels Women kept the pace to finish the game 55 to 35. This victory was also the debut game for Rebels U16 junior Kaitey Whittaker who was instrumental in controlling the boards for the Lady Rebels.

League Men - Eagles Vs Uni Rebels

A better outing this game for the Rebels Men but still not enough to secure the win losing to Eagles 65 to 86. Another slow start plague the Rebels side that showed Eagles jump to a 32 to 8 first quarter lead. Rebels made a bit of a fight back in the second quarter led by new import Jay Hardy who top scored for Uni Rebels with 23 pts and an amazing play that he blocked a shot coralled it and went coast to coast dribblimg around 3 other Eagles defenders and finished with a thunderous slam. Rebels Men ended the half with a 53 to 25 deficit. Uni Rebels just didn't find a way to stop the Eagles to score for the rest of the game and ended up loosing 65 to 86. Captain Jake Kirby ended up with 16 pts and Larry Hamil pitched in 14 pts.
