League Women - Lightning Vs Uni Rebels
The Uni Rebels Women showcasing a new offensive scheme introduced by assistant coach Mike Nixon won over Lightning 53 to 46. Rebels started first quarter strong while testing out the new plays against Lightning finished with 17 to 11 advantage. Great defense was converted to quick fastbreak points by the Rebels Women in the second quarter led by Ieasha Friel (21pts) and Tiyana Sing (13pts), they ended the half 34 to 24. with the support of Shavayah Lee (9pts) and Toya Norris (5pts) Rebels kept hte pace and maintaned their lead and ended the third quarter 42 to 34. Lightning managed to comeback the last quarter comiing within 1 point behind the young Rebels side 46 to 45. But a Time out called by head coach Brendan Lee to regroup the side and get the girls to focus and finish the game strong worked a treat as they finished the game 53 to 46 only allowing Lightning 1 point in the last 4 minutes of the game. The young side improving every week, gaining experience and jelling as they progress through the season. Next game is on Saturday May 5, 2018 at 6:30pm
League Men - Lightning Vs Uni Rebels
Uni Rebels League Men's rolled past Lightning 86 to 54 last Saturday night during round 4 of competition. Rebels Men came out focused and sharp and jumped out to a 10 to 0 start. Combined with good ball movement and patience on the offensive side; Rebels ended the first quarter with a 23 to 4. Uni Rebels maintained their advantage led by Jay Hardy (26pts) and supported by big man Ryan Smith (19pts) and small forward Shannon Bartlett (14pts) Rebels finished the first half 46 to 30. Rebels Captain Jake Kirby (10pts) and live wire guard Lance Schmidt (12pts) directing offence Uni Rebels close the third quarter with a 64 to 40 lead. With 5 Rebels players hitting double digits and a solid defensive performance, Uni Rebels closed out the game with a 86 to 54 victory over Lightning. Rebels looking to keep improving every week and keep the great team chemistry rolling. Next game is on Saturday May 5, 2018 at 5pm against Razzle.
