League Men - Ansett Vs Uni Rebels
An undermanned Uni Rebels Men's showed great effort againt Ansett last Saturday night falling 65 to 76. Missing 4 players; Rebels Men started with great defensive intensity led by Captain Jake Kirby (9pts)and kept within striking distace of a full strenght Ansett side and ended the first quarter 16 to 22. Uni Rebels undersized front line led by Malex Laurel (4pts), Shannon Bartlett (7pts) and Shane Morton did an outstanding job defending the Ansett bigs and matched Ansett offensive output in the second quarter and ended the half 30 to 37. The Rebels scoring heated up in the third quarter and led by American imports Jay Hardy (22pts) and Josh Brown (18pts); Rebels went into the last break 46 to 51. Uni Rebels was able to hang around with Ansett untill the last 4 minutes of the game where Ansett pulled away with the win 65 to 76.
