League Women Preliminary Finals - Uni Rebels Vs TV Jets
A highly anticipated Grand Final match between Uni Rebels and TV Jets last Saturday night. Rebels Women came in to this match up as heavy under dogs but started well and got up to a 5 to 2 advantage in the first 2 minutes of the game, but TV Jets turned up the defence and held Rebels to 5 points and end the first quarter 5 to 17. Uni Rebels found a bit momentum in the second quarter and closed the gap to 14 to 29 to end the first half. The Uni Rebels supporters cheered on the Lady Rebels side and maintained the momentum in the third quarter and slowly chipped away on the TV Jets lead and finished the quarter behind by 8 points 29 to 37. Spured on by the chanting of the crowd the Rebels Young Guns kept competing in the last quarter and got within 3 points of TV Jets with a 3-pointer by Shavayah Lee to make the score 34 to 37 with 8:47 left in the game. Led by Ieasha Friel (11pts) and supported by Shavayah Lee (10pts) and Michelle Friel (7pts); Uni Rebels Women's kept competing till the final buzzer but was unable to over secure the win going down to TV Jets 37 to 51. Women's League Most Valuable Player honors was awarded to Uni Rebels' Ieasha Friel, making her one of the youngest Women's League MVP winners at the age of 14 years. This young Rebels side showed a lot of talent and promise andthey are still improving. We can't wait to see them again action next season. REBELS JAH!!!
