League Women - Eagles Vs Uni Rebels
Uni Rebels League Women went in their first game of the season without the servises of last season's MVP Ieasha Friel who was still away on holidays. The young Rebels started slow going scoreless for the first two minutes of the game but when they found their touch the flood gates opened and finish the first quarter 19 to 4. Eagles fought back in the second quarter and finished the first half 27 to 18. The Lady Rebels regained momentum in the third quarter and finished 40 to 26 going in to the last break. Led by the long range shooting of Tiayana Sing (20pts) and supported by Shavayah Lee (14pts) and Toya Norris (12pts) Uni Rebels took the victory 57 to 39. Special mention to Rebels junior player Danielle Norris (4pts) who debut in her first League game and showed a lot of potential.
League Men - Uni Rebels Vs Razzle
Rebels Men did not get the result they wanted for the first game of the season, but made them realize things they need to work on as the season goes on. Rebels started out good going basket for basket against Razzle and finishing the first quarter 16 to 18. In the second quarter Razzle pulled away a bit more and ended the half 37 to 46. Uni Rebels fought back in the third quarter and cut down the deficit to 7 pts ending the quarter 57 to 64. Led by big man Jason Nwisienyi (33pts) and supported by Jay Hardy (17pts) and Jake Kirby (10pts); Uni Rebels Men kept competing till the last buzzer but Razzle was just too good in this contest and was unable to secure the win going down 76 to 98. Rebels Men debut a couple of player last night, big man Michael Kondaridis (6pts) and new Rebels junior Ali El Zein (3pts) who showed a lot of promise that they can bring to the League side.
