League Women - Lightning Vs Uni Rebels

First game back for the season the womens got off to a slow start. Lightning womens went into the first break with a 12 point lead. Coaches asked the ladies to work hard on defence. Lightning continue to move the ball and stretch the defence going into the main break with a 22 point lead. The ladies regrouped at half time and all agreed we aren't playing the way we should. Everyone started to get vocal and for her first game Trish Graham and Chantelle Lee lead the way for the young team. More intensity on defence and movement on offence the ladies closed the gap to 15 point going into the last quarter. First game from Jacinta Friel gave the ladies a spark on offence with her defensive pressure the team lifted. Shots started to drop and the young brigade began to run. Though the women's left their run it a bit too late going down by 4 points 64 to 68. Great turn around for the first game back after a 6 week break. Ieasha Friel, Shavayah Lee and Patricia Graham all top scored with 16pts. Next game is against eagles.

League Men - Lightning Vs Uni Rebels

It was a good hit out for Uni Rebels Men after the long Christmas break going up against Lightning last Saturday night. Rebels where sporting their red jerseys jumped out to a good 9-0 run in the first four minutes of the game, then finished with a full court press to end the first quarter 25 to 15. Uni Rebels found their offensive grove in the second quarter and started to pull away, Rebels Men extended the lead to 24 points as they ended the first half 62 to 38. Uni Rebels debut 2 new players this game; versatile guard and defensive stopper Jason Goodwin (6pts) and big man Erik Klenke (12) helped in adding 24 points in the third quarter and went in to the last quarter with a 86 to 55 lead. Led by Rebels Import Jason Nwisienyi (26pts) and supported by Jay Hardy(25pts), Jake Kirby (17pts) and Adrian Murphy (16pt); Uni Rebels cruised past Lightning to take the win 115 to 70. Next Uni Rebels League Men game will be Thursday February 7, 2019 against Eagles.
