League Men - Uni Rebels Vs Eagles
Another fantastic start for Uni Rebels Men against Eagles with Captain Jake Jirby leading the way hitting the first 6 points of the game with two consecutive long bombs to get boys in the right track. Rebels jumped out to a good 12-4 run in the first three minutes of the game, and ended the first quarter 24 to 15. Uni Rebels stepped up the defensive intensity in the second quarter and only allowed Eagles 11 points while Rebels amped up the scoring and started to extend the lead to 26 points as they ended the first half 52 to 26. Uni Rebels defensive presure continued on in the third quarter led by Jason Goodwin (9pts) and Jay Hardy(10pts) who took turns in guarding Eagles scorer Anthony Golden. Rebels maintainded the lead in the third quarter with a 70 to 47 advantage. Uni Rebels offensive output was spear headed by big man Jason Nwisienyi (21pts) and supported by Jake Kirby (20pts); Uni Rebels cruised past Eagles to take the win 84 to 67. Next Uni Rebels League Men game will be Saturday February 16, 2019 against Essington.
League Women - Uni Rebels Vs Eagles
After last week loss to lightning Rebels womens come out of the block firing. Jumping to a 25 - 10 lead at quarter time. Facing a young eagles side it was asked to challenge them selves at both ends of the court. Rebels womens went into the main break 45-18. Defensive pressure from the whole team was good to watch rewarding the young runners on the transition. Great leadership from the old heads of the team in Trish and Chantelle. It was good to see Justine Schmidt back for her first game to give extra guidance to the team. Rebels came out on top with a convincing 94-40 win. Kayllah Motlop (21), Jacinta Friel (20) and ieasha Friel (18) top scored.
