League Women - Uni Rebels Vs Ansett

It was back to back wins for the women's. This time knocking off third placed Ansett Rebels came out the blocks with a 19 - 14 lead going into the first break. Justine Schmidt in her 3rd game back got on the scoreboard with an 3 pointer. Ieasha (8) and Shavayah (6) led the way on the scoreboard that quarter. Defensive pressure needed to lift and it showed in the second quarter keeping Ansett to 9 points whilst piling on 29 points at the other end to go into the main break 48 -25. Movement of the ball opened the court and the points flowed. Toya Norris and kayllah motlop getting open and nailing three pointers. The 3rd was a much even contest with Ansett going on a 8 - 0 run before a timeout was made. The women's regrouped to then score 8 points. Defensive pressure lifted and so did the offense. Patricia Graham, Dustie Mare and Chantelle Lee getting Toya, Ieasha, Shavayah onto fast transitions resulting in easy baskets. The last quarter didn't disappoint with defensive pressure seeing the ladies come out with a 94 - 58 win. Ieasha and Shavayah both top scored with 26 points each followed by Toya with 14. Next game is against Razzle on Saturday at 7pm

 

League Men - Essington Vs Uni Rebels

Uni Rebels Men came out the gates with great defensive intensity and scored the first 6 points of the game that set up the tone for the rest of the game against Essington. Rebels jumped out to a good 16-4 run in the first seven minutes of the game, and ended the first quarter 19 to 11. Uni Rebels lost a bit of the momentum in the second quarter and lost a bit of the lead to Essington and ended the first half 42 to 35. Uni Rebels defensive presure amped up in the third quarter led by Jay Hardy (34pts), Jason Goodwin (5pts) and Adrian Murphy (2pts) who took turns in guarding Essington scorer Titgyeth Kwajakwan. Rebels extended the lead in the third quarter with a 67 to 47 advantage going in the the last quarter. Uni Rebels offensive output was spear headed by American import Jay Hardy (34pts) and supported by Jason Nwisienyi (19pts) and Erick Klenke (9pts); Essington tried to chase down the lead but Uni Rebels had enough advantage to take the win 83 to 71. Next Uni Rebels League Men game will be Friday February 22, 2019 against Ansett.
