League Women - Lightning Vs Uni Rebels

Rebels womens take on second placed Lightning. The first quarter didn't disappoint with Rebels womens having a 4 point lead going into the first break. Defensive pressure was up and so was the offense moving the ball to find the open shooters. Shavayah Lee and Patricia Graham finding baskets early. Lightning got a jump in the second quarter stretching our defence finding open shooters and attacking the basket. Lightning taking a 40 - 34 point lead at the main break. Rebels rallied together and turned to leader Patricia Graham who controlled the ball and found the young runners in Ieasha Friel and shavayah to find baskets. Dustie Mare and Chantelle Lee were strong on the rebounds. Much better quarter led to the two teams tied going into the last quarter. The last quarter didn't disappoint with the girls working tirelessly on defence and offence. Both Patricia and Ieasha finding baskets. It was a seesaw on the scoreboard and come down to foul shots. Dustie fouled with 4 sec left on the clock. 1 point down, making one the game went into overtime. The ladies were exhausted but were up for the challenge. Like most of the game it was up and down. But the tired rebels couldn't hold on. Going down by 4 points in the end. Patricia Graham top scored with 21 points followed by Ieasha (18) and Shavayah (17). Plenty of positives to take out the game and a much needed blow out heading into finals.

League Men - Uni Rebels Vs Razzle

Another bad start to the game for Uni Rebels Mens against Razzle last Saturday night and was looking at a 3 to 15 deficit in the first 4 minutes of the game. After a timeout to focus the group, Rebels Men's started to find composure and get it going offensively and clamp down defensively and was able to cut the Razzle lead to 17 to 23 to end the first quarter. Rebels defensive intensity picked up in the second quarter and managed to chip away on the deficit and took the lead from Razzle to finish the first half 47 to 46. Rebels Men maitained their work load on both sides of the floor and went to 71 to 69 to end the third quarter. Led by big man Jason Nwisienyi (34pts) and supported by John Hardy (24pts), Jason Goodwin (15pts) and Jake Kirby (12pts); Uni Rebels was able to hold on to the lead 92 to 89 with 1:53 left in the game. But a couplre of defensive lapses for Rebels late in the game gave Razzle the lead back and eventually lost the game 94 to 99. The loss drops Uni Rebels down to fifth place on the ladder behind and needs to win its last game against TV Jets this Thursday night and needs Palmerston to loose against Razzle to get in the Final Four.
