League Men - Uni Rebels Vs Lightning

A full strenght Uni Rebels Mens cruised past Lightning last Thursday night starting the first quarter with a 10 to 0 run in the first two and a half minutes of the game led by the hot 3-point shooting of Rebels defensive stalwart Jason Goodwin (15pts), who made all his points by hitting five long range bombs throughout the game.  Rebels Men maintained the advantage in the first quarter and finished with a 22 to 12 lead going in to the first break.

Uni Rebels kept the scoring pace in the second quarter and was able to extend lead to 44 to 23 to end the first half. Led by the consistent play of Rebels court general Lawrance Tripplet (38pts) who grabbed 15 boards, 9 assists and 6 steals; Uni Rebels opened the flood gates in the third quarter and went on to put together 43 points and go in the the last break 87 to 40.

Bolstered with the addition of new import Daniel Green (24pts) who gave Uni Rebels a longer defensive presence in the paint and another scoring option near the basket. The 6'10" American went to Wake Forest University and previously played professional basketball in Salon-de-Provence in France with Sapela Club Basket 13. Daniel Green anchored the Rebels defense with 16 rebounds, 4 steals and two blocks who helped keep Lightning to 8 points in the fourth quarter, and threw down a few massive dunks to get the Rebels crowd on their feet. Supported by Captain Jake Kirby (12pts) and Michael Kondaridis (7pts), Uni Rebels was able to cruise past Lightning and held them under 50 points and win the game 113 to 48.

 

League Women - Uni Rebels Vs Lightning

After suffering a loss against Essington. The rebels women knew they were in for a tough task coming up against the defending champs.

Though lightning were missing several key players they came out firing. It was an even contest for the first quarter. With rebels  Going into the break with a 1 point lead.

The second quarter the rebels ladies got a roll on and found the outside runners. Taking a 9 point lead at the main break.

Lightning bounced back in the third with their bigger bodies getting strong boards and inside baskets.

Rebels bounced back in the last to come out 9 point winners

Danielle Ponter 12, Shavayah Lee and Toya Norris 10 top scored.

New addition Tara Everett showed the way with her leadership getting 8 points 10 rebounds. Her presence on the court with the juniors is really starting to take place.

Chantelle Lee also outstanding with 9 points and 11 rebounds.
