League Men - Uni Rebels Vs Eagles
Uni Rebels Men battled Eagles last Thursday night missing the services starting forward Eric Klenke for a second week in a row, but Rebels defense has been solid the past couple of weeks trying to compensate for missing players. It was a close game to begin with, Rebels Men going point for point with Eagles to a 11 to 7 advantage in the first five minutes of the game. Rebels defense swithched on in the last five minutes of the first quarter and Team Captain Jake Kirby (9pts) hit three long range bombs early in the game to give Rebels a good cushion also chipped in 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Rebels went on a 16-4 run and closed out the first quarter 27 to 11.
Rebels leading scorer Lawrance Triplett (45pts) played the role of court general and lead by example by gathering 18 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals. Uni Rebels maintained their advantage in the second quarter and ran away with the lead and strangle hold of the game going into the major break with a 25-point lead and finished the first half 56 to 31 over Eagles.
Uni Rebels kept on finding the basket in the third quarter and managed to keep Eagles at bay. Rebels Men's offense was supported by Daniel Green (29pts) and 9 rebounds 2 assists 2 steals and highlighted with a few spectacular dunks to the enjoyment of the crowd. Rebels premier defender Jason Goodwin (11pts) and 8 rebounds 5 steals which gave Uni Rebels a 27-point lead going in to the final quarter 75 to 48.
The game was free flowing in the last quarter but Uni Rebels kept control of the game and maintained their advantage going on a 24-21 fourth quarter. Uni Rebels Men's outstanding well rounded game helped them shootdown the high flying Eagles and finished the game 99 to 69. Rebels League Men's next game will be against ladder leaders Razzle this Thursrday night at 8:30pm on Crt 1.
