League Men - Uni Rebels Vs Ansett
Last game of the regular season showed Uni Rebels Men going up against Ansett last Thursday night. With Team Captain Jake Kirby celebrating his 300th League Game Milestone tonight, this gives the Rebellion more incentive to win this match up. Uni Rebels started well with Jake hitting the first two three pointers of the game, but defensive lapses by Rebels Men gave Ansett a slight advantage and jumped out to a 6 lead finishing the first quarter 28 to 34.
Uni Rebels swithched on the defense in the second quarter and went on a 20 to 13 run. Rebels leading scorer Lawrance Triplett (44pts) was agressive shooting the ball also bagged 11 rebounds, 6 assists & 3 steals. After being down by 11 points, Uni Rebels started to find momentum in the second quarter and go in to half time with a 1 point lead and finished the first half 48 to 47 over Ansett.
Uni Rebels went point for point with Ansett in the third quarter thanks to the support of big man Daniel Green (28pts) and 19 rebounds highlighted with a few rim rattling dunks that made the crowd go crazy. Rebels defensive standout Jason Goodwin (7pts) with 7 rebounds 5 steals & 3 steals pitched in to contain the scoring threat on the Ansett imports. Uni Rebels a 2 point lead going in to the final quarter 75 to 73.
There was a few lead changes in the last quarter but Uni Rebels got control of the game in the with 1:30 left and maintained their advantage going on a 26-22 fourth quarter run. Uni Rebels Men's outstanding end game defense and offensive execution helped them stay on top of Ansett and finished the game 101 to 95. The win made Jake Kirby's 300th League Game Milestone much more memorable finishing with 14 points, with 4 three pointers 4 rebound 2 assists & 2 steals. Uni Rebels Mens secures second place on the ladder behind Razzle and better momentum for the playing group going in to the Semi Finals next week.
