Definitely the Cliff Richard of the Training fraternity. Looked like he was a 14-year-old for about 20 years and will not be troubled by the use of a Gillette until he is at least 60. An individual doing the job of three on many occasions as he year after year attended to the cuts and bruises, the breaks and sprains and all the other physio injury complaints of the players. Was not unusual to see him do two matches each weekend and our lasting image will be of him 'trudging' across the bottom oval trenches with a First Aid kit to attend to the cold and frozen warriors. Every Club needs the likes of Phil. Every club undervalues their contribution.
