Another year has flown by and the end of footy season is upon us once more. No more early starts on Sundays or cold and wet training nights!
Our mission as a club is to provide a fun and family friendly environment in which the kids can play and enjoy their football. We strive to develop the children and teach them not only football but also about contributing to the team environment and the principles of sportsmanship. We believe as a club we continue to meet grow and sup-port these ideals, it has been really pleasing to hear parents, umpires and officials from other clubs comment on how well our teams play or how much they have en-joyed playing against us. As a club we also take pride in being one of the largest chil-dren’s sporting groups in the area and are constantly looking at ways to contribute to the community, we have been working with the Senior Football Club to improve the facilities of the park and recently were awarded a grant from the Macedon Range Shire Council to purchase a defibrillator which will not only provide peace of mind to our members but also provide a valuable asset for other who use Lancefield Park.
This year we have had another successful season both on and off the field, with our teams being competitive in each of their respective divisions and in the case of the Under 10s going all the way to win the Grand final – Well Done to the under 10s kids and Paul Rix and his coaching team.
Like all of our officials and team members, our coaches are volunteers and dedicate an extraordinary amount of their time to the development of the kids and the club, we need to recognise them and thank them for their support throughout the season. Dur-ing the season the coaches were individually assessed by a professional football coach. The main point of feedback from this review was that we should be proud of our coaches and the positive environment which they create for our kids. Feedback from this report will form the basis for player and coaching development sessions over the course of the next twelve months.
This year we are awarding 2 great football people with life membership to the Lance-field Junior Football Club. Doug Kindred and Shane Trewarne have both been in-volved in junior football for a number of years and were the driving force behind the establishment of the Lancefield Junior Football Club, without these 2 men’s drive and passion, our club wouldn’t exist. Thank you to both Shane and Doug for their contribu-tion.
Congratulations to the boys who were named in the Inter-League squads and have been invited to Calder Cannons to train. Congratulations also to Stephen Cusack from the under 12s who was named runner up in the RDFL’s Best and Fairest for the under 12 age group. This was a great achievement by Stephen in his first year of football.
There are many people who go into making the year a success and many thank yous that are required:
Thank you to all the committee members - Tammie Dalgleish, Connie Pullella, Jo Parus, Brett Schinck, Mark Morgan, Steph Wooster, Dean Faria, Sue Ladzik & Michelle Sinclair, it takes a lot of work behind the scenes to ensure your chil-dren can take to the field each week and this group work tirelessly to ensure it is possible. Several of the committee members will be leaving the committee at the end of the year as their children complete their Junior Footy at Lancefield Juniors, thank you to Mark Morgan, Jo Parus, Doug Kindred and Brett schinck for their help throughout the year.
Thank you to the Team Managers and volunteers who help out at each game, taking their turn to perform the required jobs each week and spreading the work load fairly across all families. A special thankyou to the Ladzik family, both Sue and Jordan who have gone above and beyond the call of duty throughout the year to ensure our tem managers are supported and game day runs smoothly.
Thank you to all of the people who have supported the club – to the under 14s parents, kids and coaches who supported the move from Division 2 to Division 3 during the year, for many people this caused a lot of inconvenience especially where they had children playing in different age group. The move resulted in the team becoming more competitive and enjoying their football much more.
Thank you to our sponsors whose financial support helps in keeping the cost to the families down, please continue to support our sponsors throughout the year.
Thank you to everyone who worked in the Canteen, especially Michelle Sinclair, the canteen is a local football tradition where kids can buy their pie and drink after the game and discuss their performance while watching the next game. It also in one of the football club’s major sources of income, Michelle’s dedication and hard work has been amazing. On home games, Michelle is often at the ground before 7am to setup and start the pie warmers and is usually the last to leave at 5pm.
We are looking forward to next year, taking on the challenges of getting this great club ready for round 1 next year.. Please keep in touch with the club throughout the off season by visiting the website – www.lancefieldtigers.org.au and please consider early bird registration for season 2012. Re-registrations for next year will be moving online and by registering this year you can take advan-tage of the 2011 Season membership prices, this will also assist the club in planning how many teams we will field in 2012. We urge everyone to consider attending the AGM in October and nominating for a position on the committee. The club can only be successful with everyone’s support and in order to grow and ensure your child’s continuing enjoyment of the game we ask everyone to help wherever they can.
