A terrible day weather-wise for football on Sunday at Steel Blue oval. Wet cold muddy windy... not ideal conditions at all. But that didn't stop our Reserves girls from causing one of the bigger upsets of the season. The Sharks took it to the reigning premiers Swan Districts and played a style of footy that other teams in the dry would be jealous of. Their ability to work as a team and work overtime to back each other up was excellent to watch. The defensive pressure was some of the best we've seen all year from this team, with most of the Swans behinds due to the intensity of the backs.
A well deserved win which keeps their finals hopes alive. Now the Reserves need to continue this form heading in to the final few rounds.
Best: Jess Kinsman, Nic George, Kristen Farrell, Taryn Tapper
Player's player: Tracey Anderson
East Fremantle: 5.4 (34)
Swan Districts: 2.10 (22)
Goal scorers: 3 Kristen Farrell, 1 Taryn Tapper, Narelle Scott
Earlier in the day the Youth Girls copped the worst of the weather, but thanks to gritty determination, teamwork and great skill, showed that Sharks are better swimmers than Swans, notching up yet another win.
East Fremantle: 6.7 (43)
Swan Districts: 3.4 (22)
Goal scorers: 2 Tyana Johnson, 1 Ruby Schleicher, Amy Atwell, Karen Adams, Megan Adams
The result was not so favourable in the League game. The girls were unable to put scoreboard pressure on the Swans and had difficulty penetrating their backline for most part of the day. The Sharks will be looking to regroup and will need to step it up if they are going to match it with 1st & 2nd place on the ladder.
Best. Caitlin Edwards, Jo Beechey, Brianna Green, Tara Avery
Player's Player Kylie Lawrence
Goal Scorer: 1 Gabby Simmonds
