Referee Policy

referee

The Sharks Basketball Club is very fortunate to have a large number of referees within the Club.

However for those referees to enjoy their regular participation in the sport, and in a safe and friendly environment, we must ensure that every member of our Club - players, coaches and supporters - behave in a manner that helps this to occur.  Every member of our Club, from the President down, must make the effort to support the referees.

To make this happen, we ask that you take the time to read the attached and to consider what, if anything, you say to the referees of your games in the future.  The Club supports our referees and does not in any way, support abuse leveled at them by players, coaches and supporters.

This article will give you an insight into the difficulties that face our young officials, and hopefully make you realize that they are trying their best under sometimes extreme circumstances.

Referees are a very important part of our game, and therefore we should be supportive of all of them.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
