With 7 victories from 8 games, the Auburn GIANTS are currently sitting on top of the Sydney AFL Women's Division 2 ladder.
The GIANTS defence has been almost unbreakable for the first 8 rounds, conceeding an average of only 12 points per game. First year player and Rising Star nominee, Narmeen Mohamed, has proven to be a fantastic recruit for the backline, with her punishing tackles and fast rebounds from half back single handedly holding the opposition to minute scores.
Things up forward aren't any more encouraging for opposition teams, with another rookie player, Sonia Ismail, sitting second overall on the goal kicking count, aiding to make the team's attack one of the best in the league.
Back Pocket, Amna K-Hassan, is working hard to keep a lid on the team's rising expectations.
"Sure, we are likely to play finals, but we still haven't won any more games than we did last year.
"We want to make sure we finish higher than fifth on the ladder, but that will happen automatically if we focus on each week and opponent one at a time, giving them all due respect.
"No team is an easy beat in this competition. There are no certain wins."
The 4th of July will see the top of the table clash between the GIANTS and the ever rising Blacktown Magic, currently sitting in second on the ladder with the best attack overall. A win for the GIANTS would see them two wins clear at the top and be a massive step towards keeping top spot.
