To summarize briefly we went down by over 10 goals in the end but there were many positives to come out of this weeks match.
We finally had enough players and actually had 23 so a good interchange bench. 5 brand new players and certainly some talent in these guys. Gareth, Matt, Levi, Michael and Francis some stand out performances on Saturday.
Was the best our centermen have started this year with Ross and co in the middle winning a lot of the clearances and we ended up kicking 4 goals to their 6 in the first quarter. Some loose marking of players on our behalf led the Bulldogs to many easy goals but we showed we can match it with them when the ball is on the ground and in contested situations.
They had a few players that started to get on top and rack up posessions but Blues worthy of a mention this week were Ross in the ruck and down bac. Jenkins who looked like a good ruck option also.
Jared was superb all over the ground. Carson bagged 3 goals from full forward and with a dodgy leg!! The Fisher brothers continue to rack up possesions in the middle and have great pace.
Levi had his first game ever and shows huge potential as he picked up a lot of ball on the wing and has a huge kick. Other stand out rookie was Gareth who managed to find the ball a lot also.
Sam Blackler again got some good ball and got into some fights! Hope the eye is ok.
Dan very solid in defence
In the final minutes a very ugly incedent occurred when a 3rd fight broke out but this time Bulldog Mitch Harding ran into a wrestling pack about 10 seconds late with a flying knee which Guido copped on the elbow dislocating it. Hopefully you are ready to play again soon and hopefully CAFL looks at this incedent.
Make sure you get down to traing which is now THURSDAYs while CAFL training is on. So This THURSDAY 22nd 6pm at Hagley park South, park at Blenheim rd roundabout. Starting positions for team spots is about to get harder.
