The Blues eventually went down by 83 points in this one.
It was a tight context for much of the match and the Blues started by kicking the first goal in the opening minutes. The guys in the center ran all day led by Nick and Johnnie Fisher, Sam Blackler and Ross McWhinnie doing well in the ruck. Jared Court was effective all over the park.
Like last week we were undermanned and pulling in Steve Bradley and Chicken at the lasty minute to play gave us 17 players. So we started 1 short and as the game wore on and injuries mounted the Eagles were able to outrun us and kept their subs rolling.
We finished with a very innacurate 2 13 25 to 16 12 108.
First gamer Jenkins came down and showed he is a marking option at FF. Zac Swami who is also a first year player showed he wants to remain up forward by crumbing and kicking our second goal.
We were very unlucky with at least 2 posters and some balls touched on the line. Richard Bradley was out at CHF and we lacked the ability to get clean possesion between him and the goals. Hopefully a Dicko or Burgess will be back next week to fill that role.
So what looks like a thrashing on the scoreboard was actully quite a competitive match and our guys won a lot of hard ball in the contests and there was some great linking play from one end of the ground to another.
There were some sore boys by the end but at least a step in the right direction after the previous weeks default.
We still require more numbers so we have interchange players so make an effort to get down and help the rest of the team out!!
