Check out the CAFL site for exact scoreline but after 4 good quarters we went down by about 6 goals in the end. The Eagles use of the wind especially the third quarter saw them kick away to victory.
They started with the wind and had 4 goals to one which wasnt a bad showing as the breeze was probably worth 4 goals. With plenty of new faces it was great to see all positions filled and 4 on the bench. The downside was some of the guys had not played before and costly free kicks were given away right in front of goal.
Q2 saw us dominate the quarter with a strong wind but we could not convert the opportunities to goals while the Eagles snuck through a lucky one to keep it to all goal a piece.
Down by 3 goals at half time JD tried to fire up the boys to defend hard. The Eagles managed to control the ball and use the wind well with a few lucky bounces to take the game away from us.
We had the wind in Q4 and needed 7 goals and though the game was played in our half we only managed 3 to their one to win the quarter but need a full 4 quarter effort to win a game.
Many positives to come out of the game so firstly well done to everyone who brought down new players. Lets try and retain these guys for next season.
There were so many good perfomers this week it was hard to pick any standouts. Some fantastic passages of play by experienced and rookie players.
Make an effort to get to training this week as we can shape which team plays the bulldogs in the grand final. 6pm Westminster Park
Game next week is against the Cougars at 230pm
