Coach Harry Peterson was satisfied with the result and celebrated the win at the after match function with a well deserved double vodka and coke (without the vodka). The final scoreline read Bulldogs 11.10.76 - 9.9.63 Eastern Blues.
A strong rivalry has developed between these two sides over the past two seasons and tensions are always high, but both sides can hold their heads up for how they performed and for putting on a strong display of AFL footy in the South Island's premier football competition.
The Bulldogs look forward to the return of a number of strong players absent from the first game of the season and hope to continue their winning ways against a determined University Cougars side this Saturday at 2:30p.m at Northwood Oval.
Another strong training session prior to this game has the defending premiers serving notice to the other sides that their campaign is on track and will not be derailed without fierce resistance.
The early stages of this year's competition shows that no game will be easy and the team who maintains their composure in the close games is going to finish in a strong position come finals.
Keep up to date with the progress of the Christchurch Bulldogs by coming down to watch the games. Everyone is too busy playing to update via social media. Woof!
