Traditionally, skills are lightly dusted with a coating of rust and kicks that miss targets are followed with a few choice words, however, that was not the case today (not entirely anyway). A small number of new faces joined veterans of seasons past to hone their skills and work on developing their game for the upcoming season.
Commanded primarily by the bulging enthusiasm that is Todd Andrews, drills were run efficiently and communication was at the forefront. The attendance of a number of injured players further enhanced the belief that this side is a team who plays for one another and supports each other even when they are unable to take the field.
New season recruits fronting up were Dean Cameron, his brother Ethan and ex-pat Aussie Dave (two dads) Barry-Macauley. More new recruits are expected and if they can handle themselves in the same manner as these three gents, the Bulldogs will again be a force to reckon with in season 2015.
The big news to come out of the post training meeting was the announcement of essentially a three person coaching panel, headed by James Smith for game day command and control, with the training assistance of Todd Andrews and Wayne Sullivan. As well as social and club events for the upcoming weeks leading up to the season proper.
The first such event will be the Christchurch Bulldogs first annual pool competition, to be held and sponsored by the Redwood Hotel on the 12th of July at 4pm after training.
