The Bulldogs went down to a strong, rebuilt Mid-Canterbury Eagles, who look to be a returning force this year, despite some solid Bulldog efforts from individuals around the park. The loss will keep the Bulldogs grounded without tearing at the confidence that has been building since preseason.
Dale “Stevo” Stevenson announced himself as a strong marking forward, bagging a few goals and doing everything he could to help get the boys over the line in his first game. A high scoring affair meant that the three goal margin was indicative of a close fought tussle between two clubs looking to find their feet early in the season.
Round 4 Bulldogs Vs Blues
Despite playing the early game both sides were greeted by windy conditions and were made to work hard one way and have a handy assistant in the other direction.
The inexperienced Bulldogs were made to pay for their poor goal kicking, going down by 14 points, despite having more scoring shots on goal.
The Blues and Eagles sit on top of the ladder with three wins each, while the Bulldogs will look to take second spot after the two top sides play each other in round five.
