The Bulldogs proved to have too much firepower up front and dominated territory all game with a hustling midfield full of confidence after taking out the minor premiership.
Unfortunately for the friends and family who turned out to watch a hard fought contest, the result was under no doubt midway through the third quarter as the lead ballooned out past the 100 point mark.
Motivated by the pain of the two previous Grand Final defeats, the Bulldogs never let up and finished with a margin even they wouldn't have dared predict going into the game.
Co-Captain and 2016 CAFL Best and Fairest Dale Stevenson was again a pillar of strength up forward, as he kicked goals for fun and provided an unrelenting target for his midfielders to send in more kicks than a Bruce Lee montage.
First year recruit and aspiring Garnier Fructis poster boy, Jacob 'Sunshine' Van Maanen treated his opposing ruckmen more harshly than his Nordic God doppleganger treats Ice Giants. No Molnir required to hammer the ball forward and destroy the defensive efforts of his opponents.
His less folically spectacular but more experienced Co-Captain Wayne 'bald spot' Sullivan was awarded the 'Niki Dow' Best on Ground medal for captializing on his midfielders good work and using the shepherds of his teammates to seemingly will himself into open space from contests.
"In a game where your team wins by 131 points this award could have gone to almost anyone, I guess all that time in the gym helped me stand out a little bit," he blabbered in a failed attempt at humility.
First time female premiership winner Kate 'Locky' McLaughlin managed to kick a goal early on in the game to cement her spot as a pioneer for women in the Canterbury AFL, and validate her selection in the premiership side.
The little things were done well all year in the year of the Bulldog (Western Bulldogs also winning the AFL premiership) and the back to back assault is the next focus for the premier club in Canterbury.
