BBC Basketball is one of the leading Basketball schools in the Nation

After being awarded the Wildcard to compete at the National Schools Tournament, BBC showed they were worthy contenders finishing sixth in the nation ahead of 2012 GPS Premiers TSS in ninth spot.

BBC's opening game against NSW champions, St Augustine's from Sydney was a nailbiter. Against Australian players, BBC (Jakob Stalder)  hit a threepointer in the dying seconds to take the game into overtime. Again, with seconds remaining in the overtime period and BBC down by 2points, Jacob Wilson stepped up and hit a 3 pointer to again take BBC to the lead with 3.2 seconds on the clock. A great play and a defensive lapse allowed St Augustine's stat to score on the buzzer to win by 1 point.

BBC showed they were on the big stage and ready to perform!

BBC then defeated 2011 nemesis concordia College, the South Australian Champions and defeated them in an exciting game. This game was followed up by another good win by BBC against St Dominic's from Sydney, the NSW wildcard winner. This win put BBC in outright second position no matter the result of the following game. The final round game against Launceston College, the Tasmanian Champions, allowed BBC to rest all three of our starting guards Jakob Stalder, Jacob Wilson and Luke Pittle. The result was not going to change our position in the Quarter Finals in the afternoon. Launceston College won this match by 3 points.

The Quarter Final matchup was againt the current two-time reigning National Champions, Sydney Boys High, who were looking to make their three-peat in 2012! Coach Berghan had devised a gameplan which shutdown and threw out the rhythm of this usually poised team. BBC were still in control into the second half when Sydney Boys high settled and their non threat players stepped up to show why they have been champions. Being nearly twenty down with 5 minutes to play BBC found their style again. Lead by big time sharp shooting from Jacob Wilson, BBC came back within 5 points with 30 seconds to play and freethrows to come. BBC could not overcome in the end but left their mark on this nation's best teams to the end to bow out of medal contention with great respect and heads held high.

The final matches pitted us against Concordia again and BBC showed their style and class to convincingly win to play against a red hot St Augustine's team who defeated BBC for our final event for BBC for 2012.

The final was played against Caulfield Grammar from Victoria and Lake Ginnenderra from Canberra and it was a great example of the fantastic talent being developed in Australia as the match went to overtime and Caulfield Grammar's star team beating a team with stars in the final moments.

A wonderful experience and a proud time for BBC to wave its flag to showcase what our program achieves.

We farewell a number of seniors who have given great service to our sport.
