GREETING TO ALL OUR SPONSORS FOR ROUND 10.
A week to freshen up and the Seagulls look set for a red-hot crack at the Tigers today at the Lakeside Oval.
The week prior to the bye, it was a pleasing and momentum-building day for much of the club.
The seniors encountered horrendous conditions and made the most of the mostly dry weather before half time to hold off a spirited Orbost Snowy fightback. Skinny was outstanding and stand-in skipper Lowy racked up the disposals.
The reserves had to work extremely hard for their win, however the experienced campaigners stood up and did the business. Rowda and Willy Bryant were dangerous up forward. All the best to Willy who was stretchered off with a rib injury.
The thirds were no match for the under 18 Blues and the under 16s were given a reality check with a goal after the siren sinking us to our first loss.
On the netball court there was plenty to cheer about.
The undermanned Tambo Waste "A" grade side collected it first win of the season, beating the Blues by six goals; Betta Home Living "B" grade continued its hot streak with a seven-goal win; Barling Family "C" grade pipped the Blues at the post by three; Rivex "C" Reserve went down by eight; and Greg Dear Accounting "D" grade recorded a thumping 33-goal win.
Today we welcome Wy Yung and we know the Tigers always put up a fight. Awards in the rooms following the seniors and the Girls are cooking Tea.
Cow Lotto is just around the corner. Sunday, July 6 will be an exciting day for the club and a huge fundraiser, so get behind it. It is $50 a ticket, which gets you access to two happy hours ($! pots, $3 spirits), spit roast lunch, entertainment by the extremely talented Barrie Jessep and there will be a jumping castle for the kids. There are tickets at Sportsco, the clubrooms and off the senior footballers and netballers. The day kicks off at 11am and should be a cracker.

The word of the coach.
After a good win the week before against Lucknow, we again had to sit down at the selection table Thursday night and make 4 changes to the side.
This was a good result as there were 7 changes the week before!
With the side eventually picked, we thought it still look very competitive to front up against Orbost.
Saturday morning at 8 o’clock I received a phone call from one of the selected players saying he was unavailable to play because he had just finished night shift.
One man down this early normally takes up the rest of the morning trying to find someone to play. Texting selectors and ringing the seconds coach Rooster asking who they think would be the best player to grab out of the 2’s.
An hour and a half later we had Bobby Sproule in for his first game of the year. He became the 41st player to play in the seniors after just 7 games this year.
Happy to have Bobby in, he’s a terrific player and a great young man.
1 hr before the game I was told that another player has to finish a job he was working on and wouldn’t be able to play. We then need to find number 42!.
We had to grab a 2’s player after their great win to fill in for us, thanks Waylon Whelan.
We started a little slow but once we got going it was the best I have seen the seniors play as a team. They moved the ball very cleanly and linked up to bring each other into the game.
We played the first half this way. Then the rain arrived. The ground was quite muddy but add to this significant rainfall and after half time the pace of the game was very pedestrian. This suited Orbost. After a tough last quarter where we our defence was terrific we ran out comfortable winners.
A fair list of ins for round 10. Mick Battista, Anthony Bence Nathan Peglar are just a few names coming in this week end.
This will be a great test for us having not beaten them for a good while, knocking them off at home would put us a game clear in second place on the ladder.
Thank you for all your support! Woody
GO SEAGULLS.
