Awards at the ET this week-end.
Stratford showed us what it takes to be the best on Saturday, dominating both the football and netball.
The seniors showed they can match it with the best, but some inaccuracy proved costly in the last quarter and we went down by 15. Lowy had the ball on a string once again and Cecil slotted three despite a hamstring complaint.
The reserves gave up a three-quarter time lead to go down by 12 points. Ash Battista kicked two goals on his debut for the club, some suggesting he may be the best Battista to pull on the maroon and white! The boys are still in the hunt for a top two finish.
Richo's under 18s were undermanned and failed to capitalise on their opportunities with the wind and lost by 25. Sam Richo and Jye Armistead played well.
The under 16s keep improving and maintained their hold at the top of the ladder with a 85-point win. Aaron Matthews starred with seven snags and Alex Smith played an important role.
The Tambo Waste "A" grade netballers were always in for a difficult contest against the undefeated Swans. An outstanding defensive game by Samantha Beha gave us a chance, however late injuries forced the side into a 12-goal loss.
The undermanned Betta Home Living "B" grade couldn't keep with Stratford and lost their second match of the season by eight goals. Nicki James and Brooke Dyer played well.
Barling Family "C" grade was no match for the Swans, losing by 24. Jamieson Chester and Michalla Radford were the better layers.
Rivex "C" Reserve struggled in its clash and also felt the pain of a loss. Holly Bowden and Pariss McKendry battled until the final whistle.
Greg Dear Accounting "D" grade had a difficult contest with the Swans and weren't able to stay with the ladder leaders. Zoe Carr and Charli Moorhouse were the team's best.
Today we head to the Cattery for what will be another tough task. Competition for finals places is hotting up and we need wins to stay in touch. It won't be easy, but we're capable at our best.
After a socialise at the Lindenow social rooms its back to the Lakes Sports and Community Club (ET) for the awards at 7pm.

The word of the coach.
Last weekend we hosted top side Stratford and we needed to win to reverse the last two weeks and keep our run of wins on our home ground intact.
Lost the toss so were kicking into a tough breeze in the 1st qtr. The task I set was to control the contest and limit the score. The wind for them was very useful and they slammed on 5 to 1.
Our 2nd quarter was break even so we went into half time down by a similar amount.
At half time I stressed we had to break even and to the boys credit they did better than that. Mick Battista and Lowey really working well across halfback and at 3 qtr time we were a goal down with the breeze in the last.
We had the majority of the ball in the last but kicked 1 goal 11 for the quarter!!
The result was really disappointing as we are now under the pump, Just inside the 4.
We travel to Lindenow this week end for a must win!!
Our horrendous run of injuries has continued with Andrew Phelan out with a shoulder and Richard Mcdonald tweaking his hammy on Thursday nite. Toby is unavailable on his honeymoon!
Steve and Ash Battista and Jeff Van Den over are all in this week.
GO SEAGULLS.
