Today we welcome Tongala, where we look to improve and build on our efforts from last week.
I wonder how many times we can wish Robbo well in his next milestone game let’s try for third time lucky!! Good luck to Shaun ‘Big Sexy’ Robbins, who will line up for his 100th Senior appearance today!!! (no further wrap about how much we love you, as we think you are stretching this game out purely for attention!)
Josh Sim is also playing in his 50th Under 14 game, Well Done Josh, we hope the team can achieve results like last week in your first club milestone!
Today we are hosting the Biggest Morning Tea from 10.30 am in the new pavilion, for $10 you can assist us to raise money and awareness of all Cancer types and support many people in need of treatments and cures! The pavilion will be only available for patrons supporting the cause, with this being the case our official afternoon tea will also be held in the Ray Nye Stand at a cost of $10, with all proceeds going to the Cancer Council Foundations “The Biggest Morning Tea” (and possibly our longest morning tea!) Tonight in the clubrooms after the game we will conduct the Players Auction, food is available @ $10 a plate which includes a beverage voucher. Make sure to establish yourself a syndicate a pool together funds to get hold of one of the 12 groups available!
Just a reminder to ALL coaches/managers of football and netball sides to get your game reports into Jackie Vogel (netball) and Carmen O’Dwyer (football) by Sunday night for the Weekender entry. Thanks.

Reserves: Our goal at the start of the year was to win the first 3 games of the season and we did! It was another tough battle early on, but with the work rate of Ben McNeill, S. Thorn and Sammy J they kept us in the battle. The boys came away with another comfortable win.

U17: The Hawks tried hard but found the going tough against a faster moving Congupna team. We had a slow start with players slow to work into the game, we need to be able to respond quicker.
Our attack work rate improved and we were generally fairly competitive at contests. Thanks to Congupna for assisting with player numbers, and thanks also to some of our Under 14 players some who featured on the goal kickers list.

U14: Well what a difference a week makes! The whole team played fantastic in what can only be described as a team 4 quarter effort.
The young Hawkers out played the opposition with great team football and finally got a win under our belt, with the mid field on top, led by big Alex in the ruck along with the dash of Josh Sim and Tom Poole pushing the ball forward, with the in and under grunt work from Tom Santoro we quickly graded the lead with Pup up forward finishing with 7 goals, aided by the move of Marcus Evans who was getting amongst the goals with a more permanent role up forward. The team found the right balance. Coopper Trembath played an awesome game on the wing and Mitch Hatty was solid in defence all day along with Dog Bite who helped repel anything that came down back, but the highlight was our “Weeman” who took a solid mark and kicked his first goal in his first club game, knee high to a grasshopper, the little fella never let that stop him and it was great to see the team get around him to celebrate.
Great win boys, now we have a taste we must keep pushing forward. Very pleased Coach, today you lived the motto “We never walk alone” Well done boys.

Another strong effort girls - not the greatest start with our 1st quarter but a solid performance in the following 3 quarters. Only losing the last quarter by 1 goal. Great work in the mid court this week. Thanks to Taylah Hazelman for filling in - Maroon & Gold suits you.

B grade had a close game but Congupna pulled away in the final quarter. Lizzy ran centre with great support from Lauren at WD & Ren at WA. Ellie & Breanna were working well in goals whilst once again Cath & Milly were strong in defence. Lizzy was tireless running the court and was feeding the goalers brilliantly. Loz was the energizer bunny at WD providing numerous leads and constant back up. Ren came off in the final quarter after a great ¾’s. Lyndsay provided fresh legs and was a constant option for the goalers. A disappointing loss as we held the lead for a lot of the game.

This was always going to be a tough match from the first whistle. All the girls worked extremely hard and we had a few fantastic passages of plays. We just need to rein in a few of our waywood passes and we will get a win on the board soon. Fantastic attitude on and off the court. Keep this up girls.

Another great game by the girls. First quarter was great .Georgia Papalia hasn’t played a goaling position for a few seasons (officially) you wouldn’t know that by the way she goaled and moved in the ring. It was great that the girls adopted to many positional changes with injuries etc. You all did a fantastic job. Keep up the great work.

Everybody tried hard again this week. Congupna had a very good first half which made it hard to come back. A few changes at half time saw us come back to an even matched quarter, but a solid last quarter from Congupna saw them run away with a convincing win!!

Wow out first win!!! The girls played an exceptional game. They all played tight this week and together they were explosive! Special mention to Jamie Arbon whose goal shooting training has paid off and she played an unbelievable game.
