After four years as the Warrior's head coach Jackson will hand the reins next year. Jackson is a beloved member of the club so it was no surprise the Warriors came out firing from the first bounce.
Stephen McQuillen was dominant in the ruck in the first term giving the Wellington onballers first use. Peter Perillo was proving to be a handful up forward kicking the first 2 goals and with Wayne McQuillen and Marc Stothers also kicking truly the Warriors had a handy lead at the first break.
The Warriors were led superbly through the midfield by Dave Ross and Marty Garoni as they extended their lead against the wind to go into the main break with a five goals lead.
The premiership quarter saw Moorabal Valley hit back reducing the Wellington's lead to two straight kicks. Things looked a little shaky for the Warriors until big key forward Brett Mathews let launch a 50 metre plus torpedo that sailed through post high. John 'Bruiser' Bermingham was busy on the wing, while Russell Hansford was at his elusive best up forward.
Moorabal's charge was fading and when Dave Ross took a Jesaulenko like mark on half back which set up another Warrior's goal the wind was truly out of their sail.
Ash Oldham, Marty Onley and Joe Pataki were at their defiant best in defence, while Col Knight was skilfully setting up shots on goal across half forward. The Warriors finished with a crushing 13. 7. 85 to 7. 5. 47 victory over their revivals.
