Weekend Split Round
The Wolves were all over Sydney last weekend with our U18’s and Div 4 out at Moorebank Sports on Sat, Div 2 at Balmain and Div 1 down south at Wollongong on the Sunday but we rose to the logistical challenge of spreading our volunteer resources so thanks to everyone who helped out.
Again we struggled for a full team in the U18’s but the boys battled manfully and put in a very decent effort. As the Coach of Moorebank said after the game “if Manly had 22 players they would have won the game”. Best Players were Steven Stapleton, Jack Tier and Ryan Wearne. All players get behind Deano and Rod and let’s get a full team for the rest of the season.
Our Div 4 team were down a few players but played like they were starting to believe their own publicity from the recent good wins and were well beaten by Moorebank Sports in a fairly one sided contest by 54pts. Best players were Adam Conray, Ben “Nana” Pine and Daniel Mountford with Scotty Addicott kicking 5 goals.
Juzza got the Div 2 boys fired up for the clash with Balmain at Drummoyne Oval and it showed in a very tight first quarter. Unfortunately they let Balmain get ahead with a 6 goal second qtr but to their credit they came back in a stirring second half to only go down by 21 pts. Marcus “Numbat” Coban was outstanding at full back in his best game for the Club with big Craig Bigelow stepping up and showing great promise in the ruck. Frankie Chiarella played a great game in the centre and Lukey Slobin was effective again up forward with 3 goals.
The Div One team caught the bus down south to the Gong and turned in a solid performance with a 56 pt win which puts us clear in second spot behind UTS. Kurt Hayward is making CHB his spot with an outstanding display ably supported by Matty Ahern and David Stroud with big Nathan Darvill bagging 6 goals. Good to see the bus trip back was well behaved.
We are on the road again this weekend against Wests and Sydney Uni so we are looking for 4 big wins.
