Wolves still hot on the finals trail
There was footy all weekend with the Wolves First Grade taking on Sydney University at University Oval for a Saturday night twilight game and the Division 2 and Division 4 boys playing at Bensons Lane on Sunday with mixed results.
The Manly Wolves Division 1 boys romped in another win at Sydney University, winning solidly in the 4th quarter, final scores 86 – 51. The Wolves struggle to hold on to a one goal lead for most of the game, but kicked into a new gear and ran away with the game in the fourth quarter. Standouts were the usual suspects - Blake Brendan, Andrew Lindsay and Tyrone Armitage.
The Division 4 boys played a very important game for their run at the finals but unfortunately fell short to the Nor-West Jets. The Wolves fought hard to reverse a half time deficit in the third but were eventually run down by the home side who finished with the wind. Craig Bigelow again a stand out with two other regulars Darren Fagan and Flynn Peterson.
In Division 2 Coach ‘Juzza’ and his team were determined to turn things around from the previous week and get back to the winners circle. The boys were asked to ‘play as a team’ and did so finishing the game 125 points in front of the East Coast Eagles. With Every single player contributing to the solid performance, the stand outs were Pates, Matty Byrne, Ben Atkinson and Matt "Razzle" Rawle with 7 goals in his first game back!
See you back at the Harbord Diggers for a drink after the game, and don’t forget to confirm your registration as all Wolves memberships entitle you to Diggers membership. All details on the Club website www.manlyafl.com.
