Wolves Match Report

Sydney AFL Record - Monday, 27 July 2009
The Wolves Senior team travelled to Ern Homes Oval to take on Pennant Hills. With a number of players missing and the recent excellent form of Penno, this was a game that could easily be lost. With many players missing from the regular group the make shift team bonded well and the effort was excellent. Paul Bourke and Craig Pridgeon provided plenty of drive through the centre and the back line was fierce at the contest all day with Nial, Matt, Kurt and David Stroud consistently repelling the Penno attacks. Tyrone was again dangerous around the packs and the promoted players have staked their claim and must be displaced by those that were missing.
Unfortunately an under strength Div 2 went down to a well oiled Parramatta side in the day’s main game. The Wolves were first to score with Vinny kicking the goal on his way to a BOG performance but after a see-sawing first quarter, the Goannas started to run away with it. The final result was a 56 point loss, a very disappointing result considering a relatively even amount of scoring opportunities. Pates played another great game in the ruck and Anthony Robertson was outstanding all over the field.
The thirds returned to the winning circle with the back line providing the springboard to attack, with David Peterson and Flynn Pettersson amongst the best. Special mention must go the highly mobile forward line of Rob, Damo and Ben whose collective agility and speed caused consistent problems to the Parramatta defence. Also of note was a good performance by Cameron Gallo having his first run up from the 18s.
