From The Horses Mouth - 2009 Under 18's Review The disappointment of missing a Grand Final berth is still raw, but it has been an incredible journey for the regions Under 18's team in 2008 and marked the re-emergence of the Rams as a force in Sydney football for the future. Valiant Rams Bow Out Penrith Under 18's were courageous in defeat on Sunday at Henson Park in the Preliminary Final when they fell just 14 points short of Southern Power. With four key players ruled out of the Final due to injury and four Under 16's, including three that had played a Grand Final the night before, the 21 man squad hit the front in the third quarter before fatigue took its toll. Under 18's Semi Final - Rams Swoop on Magpies A ten goal opening quarter saw the Rams pave the way for a preliminary final berth at Henson Park on Sunday. The match against fourth placed Moorebank Sports Magpies was played with heavy winds favouring the Rams after they won the toss. The game ended 11 seconds early after an ambulance had to be called with a serious injury to Penrith's Reece Johnson. Full report on next page. more -->
Juniors Grand Final - Come along and support our future Penrith Rams junior feeder clubs will play a big part on Grand Final Day at Blacktown Olympic Park on Saturday, September 5. Round 18 - Rams Overpowered It was a disappointing finale to the home and away series when the Rams travelled to Gwawley Park on Saturday. The 18's appeared somewhat rusty after a seven week break (1 bye, 1 washout and 3 byes) in going down by 40 points to 2nd placed Power. The Firsts ended on somewhat of a controversial note with a late mark to Penrith to win the match being negated by the umpire in their 4 point loss. more -->
Round 17 - Rams Bop Goannas Penrith Rams made a highly successful trip to the new Blacktown Olympic Park venue with a clean swwep over Holroyd Parramatta. The 18's took another win on forfeit whilst the Reserves recorded a big win with 200 gamer, Jason Makin, booting three. In Firsts, Jason Bradley had plenty of reason to celebrate his 200th game with his six majors contributing in the 148 point demolition of the Goannas more -->

Round 17 at Blacktown Olympic Park The Rams have been fortunate to host their "home" match this week against Holroyd-Parramatta Goannas at the newly completed home of Western Sydney AFL, Blacktown Olympic Park. An Under 10's match between Emu Plains/Glenmore Park Lions and Hills Lions will commence at 9 AM followed by the finals bound Rams 18's at 10 AM. Reserves and Firsts will follow. Young Rams Score Accolades Although disappointed with a forfeit, the 18's scored accolades from their opponents Manly. With a scratch match played due to Manly being unable to field a competition side, Penrith evened up the sides in the social match. The final result went Manly's way by four points and it was great to hear the Wolves coaches and parent heap praise on the sporting gesture. A parent's email on next page. more -->
Round 16 - Rams blow away Demons Penrith put paid the Pennant Hills finals hopes when they scored a great 35 point victory at Greygums on Saturday. The Rams were never headed in the impressive display. The 2nds stayed in touch all day with Manly going down by just two goals. Manly caused an upset in the 18's beating the Rams, but the best players for Manly were the Rams players in the "social" match after the forfeit by Manly. more -->
Round 15 - Rams show their pride With the 18's having another week off due to the forfeit by Pennant Hills, the Rams started their day with the 2nds in their match against premiership contenders UTS.The students were shellshocked by a hungrier Rams with Penrith scoring a convincing 15 point win. The firsts were unable to get over the top of UTS in the firsts after hitting the lead in the last quarter to fall just 16 points shy. more -->
Footy's Back ! This Saturday, August 1, sees the Rams back at Greygums in Round 15 of the Sydney AFL Comp. The 18's have been advised that Pennant Hills cant field a team and have forfeited. Players are requested to still be at the ground at 11:30 for photos and possibly play up. The Reserves play UTS at 12 PM and in the main match, the firsts also play finals aspirants, UTS in what should be a great match. more -->

Round 14 - Rams Prevail in Local Derby Penrith Rams Div 4 travelled the Northern Rd to Harrington Park and took the honours in a high scoring encounter against Camden Cats in the Rams only match in Round 14. In the 70 point victory, Jason Bradley kicked ten majors whilst captain Jason Ware chimed in with three.Altogether, Penrith had ten goalscorers in their 70 point victory. Bradley was named BOG with Daniel Corboys and Dale Perry. more -->
Under 18's - Important Training Update A reminder that the 18's are training on Wednesday July 14 at Dukes Oval, Emu Plains at 6 PM this week with the Emu Plains/Glenmore Park Lions Under 16's. It is important to attend and train with one of our junior feeder clubs. Be suitably attired in your training singlet, boots etc. At the conclusion of the session some hot food and drinks will be provided free of charge. more -->
Round 13 - Roundup On Saturday, the Reserves gave competition leaders, Sydney Uni, the fright of their life when only some innacurate kicking allowed the students to scramble home. On Sunday the Firsts went down to Uni NSW/ES at Greygums Oval whilst the 18's led early but were outrun by the semi-professional Sydney Uni team before going down by 33 points at Alan Davidson Oval. more -->
Round 12 - Rams Roll the Coasters Penrith Rams 18's returned to the winners list with a comprehensive ten goal drubbing against East Coast Eagles to maintain their incredible unbeaten record against that club. In Reserve Grade, the Rams were unable to match it against premiership contenders, Nor-West whilst the Firsts stayed in touch with the Jets for much of the match before the visitors dug deep to remain in second spot. more -->
Round 11 - Rams Turn Off Power Penrith Rams recorded a solid 41 point win over Southern Power in Round 11 at Greygums Oval. It was the team's third win of the season and still within reach of finals football for 2009. The Reserves put up a competitive display against the Uni NSW/ES Bulldogs but ran out fresh legs. The Under 18's suffered their second loss of the season when they failed by just two points to overcome Power. more -->
Round 10-Rams Bag Double The Rams travelled to Macquarie Uni in Round 10 with the early start again not being an issue as the 18's held their top of the ladder position with a 63 point win. The undermanned reserves caused the boilover of the round with a gritty and well deserved 12 point win over the finals contenders but were unable to pull off the treble in the firsts with many players backing up to field a team. more -->
Round 9 Roundup Penrith Rams played only the two games in Round 9 of the competition. The Firsts took on competition leaders UTS Bats at Trumper Park and a spirited display saw them lead at half time. They could not maintain the momentum with the Bats continuing on the road to the finals. The Under 18's again scored a convincing win against Pennant Hills Demons at Ern Holmes with an impressive 73 point victory. more -->
Magpies Repeat Dose For the second successive week, the Rams took on Moorebank Sports but this week at the neutral Gwawley Park. It was almost a carbon copy of the previous week with the Rams 18's recording a big win whilst Reserves were no match for the Pies. In First Grade, the Rams took a half time lead but plenty of injuries took their toll with Moorebank recording a 33 point win. more -->
Bright Day Turns Bleak Round 8 saw the Under 18's record a comprehensive win over fouth placed Moorebank Sports at Greygums on Saturday under sunny conditions. But like the weather, it turned bleak during the day with the Reserves being no match for the Magpies whilst the undermanned Firsts were unable to maintain their winning streak in going down by thirty points. more -->
Congratulations Jim Wright The Rams wish to congratulate Jim Wright on his selection by the AFL (NSW/ACT) as "Volunteer of the Week".
Jim has been involved with the Penrith Club for many years and as well as his involvement on match day as goal umpire in both senior grades, is always seen at training to help out in various coaching roles. Full story on next page. more -->
Rams Exorcise Demons Penrith Rams scored a sensational win over 2008 Premiers, Pennant Hills, at Henson Park on Sunday. Thank You Penrith City Council The Penrith Rams AFC would like to express their gratitude to Penrith City Council for the recent work to the main building carried out by Penrith Council. After concerns were raised by Rams representatives about various repairs required, the Council acted promptly and professionally to rectify the problems.
