Match Report

Next week sees a big day for the Penrith Rams in the Sydney AFL competition, with the club transferring its home game against Holroyd-Parramatta to the new Blacktown Olympic Park facility at Rooty Hill. More significantly though, the day will see club stalwarts Jason Bradley and Jason Makin both play their 200th games for the Rams.

Last weekend saw the seniors complete the double over Pennant Hills with an excellent 35 point victory at Greygums Oval. With the aforementioned Jason Bradley leading the way up forward with 7 goals, and under 18’s skipper Matty Payne in fine form after his recent foray with the Sydney Swans reserves, the win never looked in doubt.
Six goals to one in the second term proved to be the catalyst in what was an excellent all round performance.
Final scores were Penrith 14-5-89 to Pennant Hills 8-6-54.   Both have been wonderful players over many years, with Bradley kicking over 250 goals in his career, whilst Makin was a member of Penrith’s 1991 premiership winning side.

The reserves provided a scare for another finals aspirant for the second consecutive week, however, this time they were unable repeat the upset victory over UTS, going down to Manly by just 12 points. With a number of U/18’s players providing some younger legs, the Rams were able to pull within 5 points at three quarter time but just could not get across the line.
Final scores were Manly 12-12-84 to Penrith 11-6-72.
Jason Ware led the way with 4 goals, whilst Kyle McDonagh chimed in with 3. Jon Barry and Dale Perry continued their consistently fine seasons to be amongst the best.

Next Saturday's action at Blacktown Olympic Park kicks off at 10am, with the U/18’s looking to consolidate their finals berth against the Goannas. The seniors start at 2.10pm.
