It is with sadness we advise the passing on Friday of former East Sydney goal kicking legend Peter Ruscuklic, aged 58.
Ruscuklic, the younger brother of fellow footballer Alex (both played with Fitzroy in the 1970's), made a name for himself in Sydney due to his goal kicking feats.
Playing for East Sydney, Ruscuklic kicked 505 goals in three seasons, with a sequence of 136, 156 and 213 goals from 1979 to 1981 and was part of East Sydney's 1980 and 1981 premiership teams - The bulldogs would go on to win 5 flags in a row.
His tally of 213 goals remains a national record for a major Australian rules football league season and included a 24-goal haul against St George as part of a 64-goal 3-week blitz on the competition as well as 10 goals in the Preliminary Final.
